Let Your Soul Be on Fire with Love for God and People – Fr. DominicTomuseni Professes Final Vows

Fr. Dominic Tomuseni SJ made a lifelong commitment to the Society of Jesus, professing his
final vows in a solemn ceremony at the Arrupe Jesuit University, Holy Name Chapel, marking the culmination
of 28 years of spiritual journey and service since he first joined the Society of Jesus.

In a solemn ceremony at the Arrupe University Chapel, Fr. Dominic Tomuseni SJ professed his
final vows as a Jesuit priest on the feast day of all the Saints and Blessed of the Society of
Jesus. The Mass, presided over by Provincial Fr Leonard Chiti SJ, marked the culmination of 28
years of spiritual journey and service since Fr. Tomuseni first joined the Jesuits.

Southern Africa Jesuits Provincial, Fr Leonard Chiti SJ, invited the people to pray during the
homily that God’s spirit may continue to guide Fr. Tomuseni in his journey towards a more
perfect union with God.
He reflected on the lives of the Jesuit saints and how they were confronted with challenges
and how they responded to God’s call.

“It is God through his sanctified grace who leads us to Sainthood,” said Fr. Chiti, underlining
the role of divine guidance in the pursuit of holiness.

Fr. Chiti went further to share insights from the reflection of Superior General Fr. Arturo Sosa, who linked St.
Ignatius’s autobiography to the practice of Jesuit vows. This reminder was given to Fr.
Tomuseni and the Society to remain committed and to continue serving God and humanity
with passion and dedication.

Fr. Tomuseni proclaimed his vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience as the congregation
was reminded of the importance of these promises in the Jesuit way of life.

The final vows of Fr. Tomuseni are a statement of stability in faith and commitment to serve
others. In this new chapter of his spiritual journey, he will keep serving the Lord through the
Jesuit community, inspired by the examples of the Jesuit saints and the charism of St.
Ignatius.

The Arrupe Jesuit University Holy Name Chapel was an apt venue for the occasion, as it expresses the Jesuit
commitment to education, spiritual growth, and social responsibility. This Jesuit institution
has, over the years, fostered an atmosphere where students and faculty grow in faith and
service to others.

Fr. Tomuseni’s profession of final vows is a testimony to the power of faith that transformed
him and gave his life a new direction of service unto others. His commitment serves as an
inspiration to all who know him and to the wider Jesuit community.
“It is about who we have followed, says St. Gregory of Nyssa; it is union with God, and life
in society is not an end, but a pathway.”

“I remember sharing with my friends that the idea of heaven is quite good, but it’s not my
motivation to enter the society of Jesus because the society itself, the whole idea of living for
others of sharing what we have for others, and surrendering your life for others in itself is
heaven.

I am very happy that I still hold on to that, very grateful for having been part of this society”,
said Fr Tomuseni. With his final vows, Fr. Tomuseni has become a part of the global
community of Jesuits committed to making a difference in the world. His profession is a
reminder of the enduring presence of God’s love in the world and the importance of living a
life of service and compassion. “During our first vows, I remember very well that 26 years
ago, I took my first vows, and as part of my vows, I said exactly what I promised to enter this
society and remain in it, so after 26 years and 28 years as a Jesuit, I have now entered the
Society of Jesus”.
